Rags are small pieces of cloth that can be used as medical supplies or crafting items. They stack to 10 and take up a 2x3 grid.

Types[]

Dirty Rags[]

Dirty rags are common items found in shacks, urban areas, and suburban areas. They can also be acquired by tearing apart various clothing items (such as jeans, shirts, etc)

Clean Rags[]

Clean rags are less common than dirty ones, and are rarely found in urban locations and shacks. They are also found inside first aid kits, or can be made by sterilizing dirty rags.

Usage[]

Besides crafting ingredients, rags can be used on their own. As clean rags are used, their condition goes down and turn into dirty rags once they reach 0% condition.

Protection against airborne diseases[]

Crude air filter

Rags, both clean and dirty, can be worn as a crude face mask for limited protection against airborne diseases like Blue Rot and Smallpox. As there is only a 33% chance that the rags will work any given turn, this method should not be relied upon. Wearing a gas mask with a functioning filter is a much better solution.

Bandages[]

Rags can be applied to wounds to significantly slow Bleeding, but they will not stop severe bleeding entirely without additional care. A good campsite and sleeping bag are necessary to help the wound heal faster.

Clean rags are obviously preferable as they don't cause infections. Dirty rags should only be used when the character risks bleeding to death.
